What is the WTA Rosmalen Grass Court Championships?

The Rosmalen Grass Court Championships is a professional tennis tournament on both the men’s and women’s tour. The tournament became a part of the Women’s Tennis Association in 1996 and has been since categorised as a WTA 250 event.

There are two women’s events held at s-Hertogenbosch, a singles and a doubles event. The Dutch tournament features both the events in a single elimination knockout draw. The main draw size of the singles event is 32, consisting of six qualifier spots (from a qualifying draw of 24) and three wildcard entrants. The doubles draw on the other hand features a main draw of 16 teams.

Players face each other in a best of three sets format. A set is won when six games are clinched by a player with a clear lead of two games. If the set score reaches 6-6, then a tiebreak is played. The player must win a tiebreak by securing seven points with a difference of two. In doubles, if a deciding set is enforced, then a tiebreak decides the outcome of the match. Unlike the singles rules, this tiebreak is worth ten points. The team who first reaches this mark with a difference of two points is the winner.

The singles and doubles champions receive 250 ranking points, whereas the runner-up in each category gets 163 ranking points. As of 2024, the prize pool for the event is $267,082. The champion of singles and doubles events get $35,248 and $12,823 respectively.

Tamarind Tanasugarn, Justine Henin, Coco Vandeweghe, and Ekaterina Alexandrova have each won two singles titles at the event. In the doubles category, the record for the most titles is held by Anabel Medina Garrigues, Marina Erakovic, and Shuko Aoyama, who have won two titles each.
