The T20 Spring Challenge is a women’s T20 tournament organized by Cricket Australia. It began in 2024 and is held before the women’s Big Bash League. All matches are held in Sydney and Adelaide.
The tournament features nine teams, eight of which are from the women’s Big Bash League. Adelaide Strikers, Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades, Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers, ACT Meteors, Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, and Sydney Thunders are the existing sides of the event.
The tournament features a league stage and a knockout stage. Each of the nine teams plays four teams in the league stage. A team scores two points for a win, zero for a loss, and one point each for a no result or a draw. A net run-rate determines the better side if two teams are tied at the same number of points.
The top four teams at the end of the league stage progress to the semifinals. The two semifinals are played between the sides placed first and fourth, and second and third. A total of 18 matches will thus be played. Notably, all teams will feature only Australian players and will not feature any overseas player.
The inaugural edition was won by Hobart Hurricanes after they defeated Brisbane Heat in the final. Lizelle Lee was the top run-scorer with 252 runs and Nicola Hancock was the highest wicket-taker with 10 to her name. The highest recorded total was 183 runs by Sydney Thunders and the lowest total was 93 runs by ACT Meteors.
