What is the Pakistan Women’s T20 trophy in cricket?

The Pakistan Women’s T20 tournament is a domestic cricket competition of Pakistan. It began in 2019 and features regional women’s teams of Pakistan having a mix of senior and junior players.

The teams participating in the tournament as of 2024 are Strikers, Blasters, Challengers, and Dynamites. The Strikers were introduced in the competition from the 2022 edition. Before the 2022 season, this tournament was known as the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship.

Each team faces the other twice in a double round-robin format. A match win is worth two points, and no points are deducted for a loss. If a match is tied or does not yield a result, then each team gets one point. The net run-rate acts as a tiebreak if two teams are tied at the same number of points. Table-toppers contest the final at the end of the league stage.

The Challengers are the most successful side, having won the Pakistan Women’s T20 title thrice as of 2024. Blasters have won one title. In 2022, the tournament was held in two phases. The first phase featured the same teams, but comprises of U-19 players. By the end of the second phase, the Blasters were the victors.

Bismah Mahroof of Blasters has twice been the highest run-scorer of a single edition. Muneeba Ali’s tally of 292 runs in the inaugural edition is the most by any player in a single edition. Among the bowlers, Fatima Sana has twice been the leading wicket-taker. She did so by representing two different sides – Challengers and Blasters. There was a three-day tie between the highest wicket-takers in 2020 as Hafsa Amjad, Nashra Sandhu, and Fatima Sana took four wickets each.
