Malaysia Super 100 is a new professional badminton event on the Badminton World Federation’s circuit. A part of the Super 100 series, the tournament began in 2023. It is organized by the Badminton Association of Malaysia.
All five disciplines of the sport have a competitive event at this tournament. Each event is played in the single elimination knockout format. Except the men’s singles event which has a draw size of 48, all other events have a draw size of 32. The top eight players or pairs are seeded in their respective draws.
All matches are contested at Kuala Lumpur’s Stadium Juara. The matches are played in a best of three sets format. A set is won when a side reaches 21 points with a clear difference of two points. At a score of 20-20, play continues till one of the players edges ahead by a leaf of two points.
The total prize pool of the event as of 2024 is USD $100,000. The singles champions are rewarded with USD $7500, whereas the doubles champions get USD $7900. All the winners of the tournament get 5500 ranking points whereas the runners-up receive 4680 points. Players who finish as quarterfinals and semifinalists get a boost of 3030 and 3850 ranking points respectively.
After the completion of its first two editions, a Malaysian player has lifted the title in each category except women’s singles. Furthermore, no player in any one discipline has won the title twice. Chinese Taipei is the next best nation having produced three champions.
