What is the Guyana T10 Blast in cricket?

The Guyana T10 Blast is a cricket competition organised by the Guyana Cricket Board. It features players from the Caribbean, specifically from Guyana. It is organized by the Guyana Cricket Board.

The participating teams are Demerara Pitbulls, Berbice Caimans, Berbice Piranhas, Essequibo Anacondas, Essequibo Jaguars and Demerara Hawks. Each team can have a minimum of two U-19 players and a maximum of three such players in their squad. A total of seven grounds host over 30 matches across the ground.

Each team plays the other twice in a double round-robin format. A team wins two points for a win, one for an abandoned or drawn match, and zero for a loss. The top four teams at the end of the league stage contest the semifinals. This is followed by a playoff match for the third spot. If two teams are tied at the same number of points, the tiebreaker that decides the better side follows the following order: match wins, head to head record, and net run rate.

The inaugural edition of the event held in 2024 was won by Demerara Pitbulls. The champion side gets USD $1.5 million whereas the runners-up received $500,000 respectively. Teams that finish as semifinalists receive $100,000 each.

In the 2024 season, Christopher Barnwell was the most valuable player, scoring 170 runs and 11 wickets. The highest run-scorer was Quentin Sampson 234 runs. Ashmead Nead took the most wickets with 11 to his name. Jeremiah Scott was the most successful wicketkeeper, having been involved in most dismissals.
