The Guwahati Masters is a professional badminton tournament that is a part of the Badminton World Federation’s annual tour. It is a part of the Super 100 series of events and is organized by the Badminton Association of India. The first edition was held in 2023 and the event is annually held at the Sarju Sarai Indoor Sports Complex.
The Guwahati Masters organizes events in four disciplines – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The men’s singles event has a draw size of 48, whereas the draw size of the remaining events is 32. All draws for a single-elimination knockout format.
Each match of the tournament is played in the best of three sets format. The player or side who wins 21 points with a difference of two wins the set. If the score reaches 20-20, then the player or side who is first to a lead of two points wins the set.
The winner gets 5500 ranking points whereas the runners-up and semifinals get 4680 and 3850 respectively. The total prize money of the event is USD $100,000 with the singles and doubles champion receiving USD $7500 and USD $7900 respectively. The runners-up in both singles and doubles categories receive USD $3800 each.
The women’s doubles has been won by the Indian pairing of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponappa in the two editions of the event. As of 2024, India has produced the maximum champions across all events (three) followed by China and Malaysia whose players have twice lifted the trophies.
