The Fifty50 Challenge is a women’s domestic One Day International competition of Zimbabwe. It is organized by Zimbabwe cricket and began in 2020.
The Fifty50 Challenge is only the second tournament for women’s cricket in Zimbabwe since the Inter-provincial tournament held in 2008-09. The tournament features four teams: Eagles, Tuskers, Rhinos, and Mountaineers.
Each of these teams faces the other in a double round-robin format. A match win is worth ten points and a loss is worth zero points. A match that yields a draw or a tie or a no result leads to both sides getting five points each. At the end of the league stage, the team with the most points is crowned the champion. If two teams are tied at the same number of points, then the net run-rate acts as a tiebreaker.
The Eagles have been the most successful side, winning three titles as of 2024. The second best side is the Mountaineers who won the inaugural edition of the tournament. Rhinos have finished as the runners-up thrice, whereas Tuskers have managed only one final.
Josephine Nkomo was the leading run-scorer in the first two editions of the tournament. Alongside Nkomo, fellow Rhino player Ashley Ndiraya had been the highest run-scorer in the 2022 edition of the tournament. Francesca Chipare’s tally of 19 wickets in the first edition is the highest that a bowler has claimed in one season.
Despite the Eagles winning the title thrice, none of its player has finished as the highest run-scorer of the tournament. Among the bowlers, the best performance by an Eagles player was delivered by Michelle Mavunga in 2021 who was the highest wicket-taker.
