Legends League Cricket comprises of two T20 league-based cricket tournaments that are played in two formats. Both tournaments feature retired cricketers. The first tournament is the Masters Tournament and the second is the Legends League Franchise Tournament.
The Masters tournament features three teams: India Maharajas, Asia Lions and World Giants. India Maharajas feature retired players from India, Asia Lions consist of retired players from the Indian sub-continent (excluding India) and World Giant comprise of retired players outside Asia.
The Masters tournament is played in a double round-robin format where each team plays the other twice. The top two teams contest the finals. Teams earn two points for winning a match and share a point if the match is washed-out. As of 2023, India Maharajas are the only team to have not won the title.
The Legends League Cricket is a franchise based competition where retired players from different countries can be a part of a franchise irrespective of their nationality. A total of six teams feature in the competition: India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Bhilwara Kings, Manipal Tigers, Southern Superstars and Urbanrisers Hyderabad.
Each team plays the other in a double round-robin format. After the league stage, the top two teams lay the first qualifier. The winner of this match directly qualifies for the finals. The third and fourth placed teams in the league stage face each other in the eliminator. The winner of this match plays in the second qualifier against the loser of the first qualifier. The winner of the second qualifier advances to the finals to play against the winner of the first qualifier.
The tournament is owned by Absolute Legends Sports Pvt. Ltd. It is not an ICC affiliated event and is mainly targeted to keep the fans of retired players attracted to the sport.
