The Orleans Masters is a Super 300 tournament on the Badminton World Federation’s professional badminton tour. It began in 1994 as a regional event, before transitioning as a national event in 1999. It was not until 2012, that the Badminton World Federation made it a part of its professional circuit.
The Orleans Masters feature competitions played in men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles categories. Played in Palais des Sports, each event of the tournament features a knockout draw. In each event, the draw consists of 32 players or pairs.
As of 2024, the tournament has a total prize money of USD $210,000. The singles and the doubles champions receive $15,750 and $16,590 respectively. The winning player or pair is awarded 7000 ranking points. Moreover, the runner-up and semi-finalist get 5950 and 4900 points respectively.
Ever since it has been a part of the Badminton World Federation circuit, no player has won the men’s singles, women’s singles, and men’s doubles title more than once. The Stoeva sisters, Gabriela and Stefani, have won a record three women’s doubles titles at the tournament. Furthermore, in the mixed doubles category, no female player has won the tournament more than once. Mathias Christiansen is the only male player who has been a part of two winning teams in the mixed doubles category at the Orleans Masters.
As of 2024, six Japanese and six Danish players have won titles at the Orleans Masters. The next best nation is England with five of their players lifting the trophies.
