The Open de Rouen is a newly introduced professional tennis tournament on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. It’s first edition as a WTA 250 event was held in 2024. The tournament is scheduled such that players can participate in it as a build-up to their French Open preparation.
The tournament witnesses a singles and a doubles event. Both events are played in a single elimination knockout format. The draw of the singles event has 32 slots, four of which are reserved for qualifiers and four for wildcard entrants. In doubles, the draw has 16 spots, of which no more than two can be allotted to wildcard entrants.
Though both the singles and doubles matches are played in the best-of-three sets format, it has a slight variation when a deciding set ensues. The deciding set of the singles format is played such that at a set score of 6-6, a tiebreak decides the match. The first to seven points with a difference of two points win the match. In doubles, the deciding set is a tiebreak. The doubles pair that first reaches ten points with a margin of two points wins the match.
The winner of both the singles and doubles competition gets 250 points whereas the runner-up gets 163 points. As of 2024, the prize pool for the indoor clay court event is $259,303. Before 2024, the tournament was held as a WTA 125 event for two editions. No player won the event more than once in both the singles and doubles event. However, Viktorija Golubic managed two consecutive finals, winning the title once.
