The Pickleball International Committee is one of the many governing bodies of the sport. It began in 2023 with the goal of facilitating the sport’s inclusion into the Olympics.
To satisfy the requirements for inclusion in Olympics, the sport needs to meet the standards of the International Olympics Committee. One of these goals is to ensure that the sport commits to sustainability. The Pickleball International Committee is specifically developed to change this aspect of pickleball.
While pickleball as a sport has a massive growth globally, its primary equipment, the plastic ball has also led to the multifold increase in plastic production. The Pickleball International Committee aims to change this by introducing a pickleball which is free of plastic.
The members of the committee have proclaimed that it may take them five to six years to come up with a solution. However, to adhere to the sustainability principles, they are determined to come up with a solution. Recently, the Pickleball International Committee launched its second chapter in China which plans to increase national and international competitions in the country.
Another goal of the Pickleball International Committee is neurodiversity. The experienced committee members wish to ensure that the ‘awareness, exercise, lessons, research, key social interaction’ related to pickleball are spread across all groups of the population. The Pickleball International Committee is supported by the GoFundMe program for this initiative.
A goodwill program of this organization includes a program wherein Brazilian kids living in favelas are introduced and encouraged to play pickleball. Finally, this committee also aims to raise awareness about pickleball technology among the masses.
The Pickleball International Committee is set to be one of the front-runners in being the unanimous body for having a say in pickleball.
