The Kaohsiung Masters is a relatively new tournament on the Badminton World Federation’s circuit of professional badminton events. Its first edition was held in 2023 in Taiwan and was categorised as a Super 100 event. In 2024, it was selected as one of the nine tournaments to be a part of the Super 100 series.
The Kaohsiung Masters host tournaments in all five disciplines of badminton – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles. There are 32 slots in an single elimination knockout draw for each singles and doubles events. The top eight players or teams are seeded for the event. A match is played in the best of three sets format wherein players win a set when they win 21 points with a difference of two points.
The tournament is organized by the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association in conjunction with the Badminton World Federation. Players who win a title in their respective discipline get 5500 points. The runners-up get 4680 points. A quarterfinalist and a semifinalist get 3030 and 3850 points respectively.
The total prize pool for the event is $100,000. A singles champion gets $7500 and doubles champion receive $7900. The finalists for both the singles and doubles events get $3800.
Since the two editions in which it is held, no player has won the title more than once. Players from Chinese Taipei have won the most titles, with five of them winning across two editions. Players from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Japan have won one title each.
