What is the Indonesia Masters Super 100 in badminton?

The Indonesia Masters Super 100 is a professional badminton tournament that has been held since 2018. It is organized by the Badminton Association of Indonesia and is a part of the Badminton World Federation’s Super 100 series of events.

The five events held during the tournament includes men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles. The draw size of each category is 32. Eight of the highest ranked players or teams are seeded for the event. Every event is held in the single elimination knockout draw format.

All matches are played in the best of three sets format. A set is won when 21 points are won by a side with a difference of two points. Play continues at 20-20 till one of the players or teams takes a lead of two points.

Players win 5500 points for winning the title and 4680 for a runner-up finish. A finish as a quarterfinalist is worth 3030 points whereas 3850 points are for the semifinalists. The total prize pool of the event is USD $100,000. Out of this, the singles champions earn USD $7500 and the doubles title holders win USD $7900.

No player has won the men’s singles, women’s singles, and men’s doubles title more than once. The Indonesian pair of Lanny Tria Mayasari and Ribka Sugiarto have won a record two doubles titles. In mixed doubles, Jafar Hidayatullah is the only player who has been a part of two champion sides.

As of 2024, Indonesia has produced 12 champions at the event whereas the next best nation is Japan with seven title wins.
