What is the DUPR Collegiate National Championships?

DUPR or Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating is known for providing ratings to pickleball players professionally. However, it is also instrumental in developing future stars of the game through the Collegiate National Championships held in the United States.

The school teams that participate in the Collegiate National Championships make it to that stage by virtue of bids. These bids are given to schools based on their performance in the latest Collegiate National Championships, their performance in bowl matches (eliminators played on Sundays between losing teams), their performance in Super Regionals, Campus Regionals, and Professional Pickleball Association of Major League Pickleball sanctioned events.

For the 2025 season, a Super Regional event will hand out four bids and USD $6000 scholarship money. A total of six such super regionals are scheduled. Campus Regional events will hand one bid for the following Collegiate National Championships. From the 2025 season, the championships will be held in partnership with the United Pickleball Association.

The Collegiate National Championships began in 2022 and saw 151 players participate in the event. A total of 17 schools were a part of the event, with the University of North Carolina eventually being crowned the champions. Player participation saw a seven-fold increase the following year with 65 schools fighting for the title. The University of Virginia dethroned North Carolina that season.

In its latest edition held in 2024, a mind-boggling 2069 players participated. These were from 120 different schools. The Utah Tech University were the victors of the largest Collegiate National Championships held till date.
