The Moselle Open is a professional men’s tennis tournament that is held in Metz since 2003. It is a part of the ATP 250 series of events and has been played on indoor hard courts. Moreover, it is one of the four French ATP 250 events along side the ones held in Marseille, Montpellier, and Lyon.
Both men’s singles and doubles events are held at the tournament. The draw size for singles and doubles is 28 and 16 respectively. Out of 28, three spots are reserved for wild card entrants whereas three other spots are reserved for qualifiers who make it to the main draw after getting past a qualifying draw of 16.
Every match is played in the conventional best of three sets format. A player or pair wins a set when they win six games with a difference of two. If the set score is tied at six games apiece then a tiebreak decides the set winner. The tiebreak is won by the player who wins seven points with a difference of two. In doubles, a third set is played as a set tiebreak of ten points. The team who gets to ten points with a difference of two wins the match.
The total prize money for 2024 is €579,320. Out of this the purse for the singles and doubles winners is €88,125 and €30,610 respectively. The champions receive 250 ranking points whereas the singles and doubles runners-up receive 165 and 150 ranking points respectively.
Jo Wilfried-Tsonga is the most successful singles player having won four titles till date. Nicolas Mahut is the most successful doubles player, having been a part of four title winning pairs at the Moselle Open.
