The ACC Emerging Team’s Asia Cup is a limited overs tournament that is played between cricket teams of Asia. Each team consists of young players that are yet to make a mark in professional cricket internationally.
The Asian Cricket Council organized the first Emerging Team’s Asia Cup in 2013. The tournament was then held between 2017 to 2019, and later from 2023. In 2024, the Emerging Team’s Asia Cup was contested in the T20 format for the first time. Most of the players in each team are under the age of 23.
The teams are divided into two groups. Teams in each group face each other in the round-robin format. Each team plays the other team once. A team gets two points for a win, zero for a loss, and one point for a tied or no result. If two teams are tied at the same number of points, then the team with the better net run rate is preferred. The top two sides from each group at the end of the group stage progress to the semifinals.
The teams who have participated in the tournament are India A, Pakistan A, Sri Lanka A, Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, United Arab Emirates, Nepal, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Oman. ACC Premier Men’s League is one of the build-up events that sees a few teams qualify for the eventual Emerging Teams Asia Cup. As of 2024, Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A have won the title twice each, whereas India A and Afghanistan A have won the title once each.
