The Kwibuka T20 tournament is a cricket competition held in Rwanda. It is played in the memory of the victims of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. The event is organized by the Rwanda Cricket Association. The tournament began in 2014 as a five-match bilateral series between Rwanda and Uganda.
Up until 2018, no match played in the event had an official T20 International status. However, the tournament was held annually and the number of participating teams increased gradually. In its most recent edition held in 2024, a total of eight teams participated in the tournament.
The participating teams as of 2024 are Botswana, Brazil, Cameroon, Germany, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. In 2022, Germany and Brazil became the first two non-African teams to participate in the tournament.
In its first five editions when it was not sanctioned by the International Cricket Council, Uganda won the tournament thrice, whereas Kenya won it twice. Ever since it gained International status, the Kwibuka T20 tournament is won twice by Tanzania, and once each by Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda.
The highest team total was recorded in the 2019 edition of the tournament when Uganda recorded 314 runs against Mali. Mali was bowled out for a mere 10 runs in the same match, making it the biggest win margin for any team (304 runs). Coincidentally, in the same tournament Mali was bowled out for the lowest team total of six runs against Rwanda. In their seven appearances, Kenya have won the title four times. Rwanda have appeared in their home event ten times but have only managed to win the title once.
