The Iasi Open is a WTA 250 event on the women’s professional tennis circuit. It is played on clay courts in outdoor conditions. The tournament became a part of the women’s tour in 2022.
The 2022 edition saw the inception of the singles event for the ladies. In 2024, a doubles tournament was held for the first time at the Iasi Open. The singles event has a draw size of 32. Out of these, six spots are reserved for qualifiers, and three for wildcard entrants. In doubles, 16 teams are placed in a draw, two of which enter through the main draw. Both the draws are structured in a single-elimination knockout round format.
All matches of singles and doubles are played by the conventional rules in a best of three sets format. A game score of 6-6 leads to a tiebreak. The winner of the tiebreak is the one who was the first to seven points with a difference of two. In doubles, the deciding set is played as a tiebreak. The winner is decided based on the pair who was the first to win ten points with a difference of two points.
The winners and the runners-up of both the singles and the doubles tournament get 250 and 163 points respectively. As of 2024, the WTA 250 event has a prize money of €267,082. The singles winner receives €30,650, whereas the doubles champions get €11,150.
The first two editions of the event saw Ana Bogdan win the singles title at her home event. The first champions of the doubles event were Anna Danilina and Irina Khromacheva respectively.
