The Women’s Senior T20 Trophy is the leading T20 competition of India’s women’s cricket. The tournament is governed by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Each match in the tournament features an innings of 20-overs per side.
The tournament features 37 teams representing different state cricket associations. Teams are divided into two groups of eight teams each and three groups of seven teams each. Each team plays the other once in a round-robin format. A total of 129 matches are played in the entire tournament.
A win is worth four points, a loss is worth zero points, and one team is awarded to each team if the match is abandoned, has no result or tied. If two teams are tied at the same number of points, the better team is decided based on the most wins, head-to-head record, and then the net run-rate.
The table toppers from each group qualify for the quarterfinals. The next best team across all groups also qualifies for the quarterfinals. The seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth positioned team as per the points qualify for the pre-quarterfinals. The knockout stages this comprise the pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, semifinals and final.
Railways have won a record eleven titles at the event as of 2024. Delhi, Punjab and Mumbai have won one title each. Maharashtra has finished as a runner-up on five instances. Smriti Mandhana is the only batter who has twice been the highest run-getter in the tournament. Kiran Navgire holds the record for most runs scored in a single edition when she hit 525 runs in the 2021-22 season. Saika Ishaque, Nupur Kohale, and Nidhi Buley’s tally of 18 wickets in the 2023, 2019, and 2016 season is the joint-highest.
