The Women’s Senior One Day Trophy is the premier List A competition of India’s women’s cricket. It has been held since 2006 and is governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
The tournament features a round-robin format in the league stage followed by knockout rounds. 37 teams take part in the competition, representing different states, union territories, and regions of India. Teams are divided into two groups of eight teams and three groups of seven teams. Each team plays the other once in their respective group. A team gets four points for a win, two for a draw or shared result or no result, and zero points for a loss. If two teams are tied at the same number of points, then the better team is decided based on most wins, head-to-head record, and then net run-rate.
The table toppers of every group and the next best team across all groups based on the number of points won qualify for the quarterfinals. The teams with most points placed seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth qualify for the pre-quarterfinals.
Each match is played in the One Day International format featuring 50 overs per innings. The knockout stage features pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, semifinal and final. The most successful side of the tournament is Railways who have won 15 titles till date. Mithali Raj is the only player who has been the highest run-scorers on four different occasions. Jasia Akhtar and Anagha Deshpande hold the joint-record for the most runs scored in a single tournament. Both players hit 501 runs in two different editions.
