The Marrakech Open, better known as the Grand Prix Hassan II is a professional men’s tennis tournaments. It is played on outdoor clay courts in Morocco and is categorised as an ATP 250 event. Though it began in 1984, it was not until 1990 that it was recognised as a pro event.
The Marrakech Open features a singles and doubles draw of 32 and 16 each. The singles draw features slots for both qualifying and wild card entrants. The doubles draw only features two wild card spots. As of 2024, the tournament has a prize pool of €562,815.
Each match is played in the best-of-three sets format. In singles a deciding set score of six games apiece is decided by a tiebreak. The player who is first to win seven points with a difference of two points is the winner of the set and eventually the match. In doubles, if the match goes to the decider, then the third set is played as a tiebreaker. The pair who is first to win ten points with a difference of two is the winner.
The winner of the tournament gets 250 points. The singles and doubles runner-up get 165 and 150 points respectively. Pablo Andujar is the most successful player at the tournament having won three titles as of 2024.
The doubles pairs of Frantisek Cermak and Leos Friedl, and Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau have won won two titles each. However, Horia Tecau has won another title with Jean Julien-Rojer, making the Romanian the most successful doubles player at the event.
