What is the Estoril Open?

The Estoril Open is a men’s professional tennis tournament that is played on outdoor clay courts. It is a part of the ATP 250 series of tournaments and was first held in 2015. It is one of the lead up tournaments for the French Open. The tournament remains to be scheduled for the 2025 season.

The Estoril Open features a singles and doubles draw of 32 players and 16 pairs respectively. The singles draw features four qualifying spots and three wild card entries. In contrast the doubles draw has two wildcard slots.

Each fixture is played as a best-of-three sets match. The doubles draw is played in a similar format. However, the difference is that if a doubles match goes to a third set, then it will be played as a set tiebreak. The set tiebreak will be won by the pair who is first to win ten points with a difference of two points.

The deciding set in singles will be played in the conventional format. If the final set score reaches six games apiece, then a tiebreak decides the match. The player who is first to win seven points with a difference of two wins the match.

The total prize money of the tournament is €579,320. The winner of the tournament receives 250 ranking points. The singles runner-up gets 165 points whereas the doubles runner-ups get 150 points.

As of 2024, no player has won the singles tournament twice. Three Spaniards have won the tournament, making Spain the most successful nation at the tournament. In doubles, Scott Lipsky is the only player to have won the title twice with two different partners.
