The European Mixed Team Badminton Championships is contested to decide the best mixed doubles team of Europe. The tournament is organized by Badminton Europe. It first began in 1972 and is held every two years. The location of the tournament changes each year.
The tournament also acts as a qualifier event for the Sudirman Cup of that year. The three teams that di4ectly qualify for the event are the host nation, defending champions, and the highest ranked team. Before the main competition, a qualifying stage is held. Based on the number of participating nations, teams are divided into different pools. They play each other in a single round-robin format. The winner of each pool qualifies for the main event.
As of 2024, eight teams qualify for the group stage. Teams are divided into two groups. They play each other in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each group qualify for the knockout rounds, i.e., semifinals and finals.
A single tie consists of men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles events. Each match follows the conventional rules and regulations of Badminton World Federation. A single rubber is played as a best of three sets match. A player or pair wins a set when they win 21 points with a difference of two points. At a score of 20-20, the player who is first to take a clear two points lead wins the set.
As of 2024, Denmark and England are the most successful nations, having won 27 and 24 medals each across all disciplines.
