What is the International Masters Cricket?

The International Masters Cricket was formed in 2018. It’s main objective was to organize World Cup events for retired cricketers in different age groups. As a result, the International Masters Cricket today organized cricket World Cup events for Over-40s, Over-50s, Over-60s, and Over-70s players.

The veteran cricket association of various cricket playing nations are members of the International Masters Cricket. These teams include South Africa, Australia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, England, Zimbabwe, Wales, UAE, Namibia, USA, Canada, and West Indies. Veteran cricketers of various associate nations often group together to form a Rest of the World side.

Each national team sends in their entries prior to the competition. Teams are divided into two pools. In each pool, one team plays the other in a single round-robin format. The top two teams from each pool progress to the semi-finals and eventually the final. The remaining teams then play each other in playoffs to determine their final position in the league.

A match of International Masters Cricket is played in a 45-overs per side format. Teams get two points for winning a match, one point when the result is shared, and zero points for a loss. A total of 12 to 14 teams participate in an International Masters Cricket tournament based on the age group. Tournaments of each age group have different working committees to ensure the a smooth progression of the event. The competition still seeks sponsors and is still striving for broadcast partners.

The International Masters Cricket is a great initiative to keep the sporting spirit alive in veterans and has a promising roadmap ahead.
